MIC (Mission Investments Company) is the investment arm of The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven. MIC works to expand opportunity by deploying catalytic capital to build family and community wealth and has made more than $60M in mission-aligned investments spanning affordable housing, neighborhood revitalization, entrepreneurship and small business incubation.
MIC is the only community foundation in the U.S. operating as a Registered Investment Advisor and is committed to locally-led, systemic change.
The brand conveys confidence to funders while staying deeply connected to community-based founders. That balance between innovation and inclusion became the foundation of MIC’s new identity.

8PTS has crafted a visual identity and website for MIC that positions them as both civic oriented and committed to bold investment in the New Haven region. The logo, comprised of letterform parts, references modular building and teamwork while the visual system allows the “let’s get-down-to-work” language to take precedence. The brand is verbally-led with an academic stance.
The vertically aligned headline typeface, Manuka, announces the fund’s many data points and impacts with confidence. The thin-lined graphics are built from the letterforms, and represent MIC’s core values: connection, collaborative innovation and growth. The color palette employs an earthy, yet fiery orange contrasted with a deep navy to communicate a seriousness of purpose and depth of drive.
The new brand establishes MIC as a trusted and professional VC fund with deep roots in ecosystem building. The website meets the challenge of connecting with MIC’s dual audience — attracting and speaking to funders alongside community-based founders and entrepreneurs.
Together, the brand and website bridge the gap between innovation and impact, reflecting MIC’s commitment to mission-driven investing and building inclusive economic growth that strengthens families and communities.
